Jean Duffy (Lanahan)

62, of Westvale, passed away peacefully Friday at home with her sons by her side. She was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and was the daughter of the late Alvin and Alice Duffy. Jean was a graduate of the Convent School and St. Mary of the Woods College and earned her master's degree in education at Syracuse University. She was a member of NY State Assoc. of Family and Consumer Science Educators. Jean taught in the Lyncourt, Liverpool and North Syracuse school districts and was a home and careers teacher at Fayetteville-Manlius High School until her retirement last year. Jean loved to travel and spend time with her many friends. She enjoyed spending time at her summer home in Lake Clear, NY, playing bridge and bunco, and was an avid shopper. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a caring and generous friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand. In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, John A. Lanahan, and two brothers, John A. and Donald C. Duffy. She is survived by her sons, John, Timothy and Matthew Lanahan, all of Syracuse, NY; brother and sister-in-law, David A. and Mary S. Duffy; sister-in-law, Ellen McCardle Duffy, all of Syracuse, NY; mother-in-law, Nora Lanahan of Albany, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and many loving friends
